When You Feel Responsible for Keeping Everyone Happy
I wonder how many people spend their days quietly monitoring the emotional temperature of everyone around them.
Making sure nobody feels left out. Making sure nobody is upset. Making sure everyone is comfortable, understood and happy.
And how often they pause to consider their own experience in all of this.
Perhaps being a caring person doesn't mean being responsible for making every interaction pleasant or every relationship free of discomfort.
Sometimes, people will be unhappy. Sometimes, there will be disagreement. Sometimes, someone will misunderstand your intentions.
And perhaps you can allow those things to happen without immediately making them your responsibility to fix.
You can be a good person, a thoughtful partner, a loving friend, and still not be responsible for keeping everyone happy.
